THANK YOU for supporting the Chicago Independent Radio Project (CHIRP)! :')
CHIRP is a volunteer-run radio station on the northwest side. We are independent (no ads!) and provide a platform for local musicians around the city by hosting free or low-cost shows, playing their music, etc. It's run by one full-time staff member and over 250 volunteers -- including all the DJs. They play some really great tunes - even if you’re not in the area, you can get a sense for it by listening online or in the app.
What I do for them is mostly table at shows/events and interview local artists for the podcast. I’ve also been on the inaugural Associate Board since September-ish. All of the volunteers are incredible, and the mission of the organization (which is just to serve the artistic community and people who love music) has been really meaningful/inspiring. It's been one of my favorite parts of living in this city.
